Gary TBullet selection for 300/221 Carbine Barrel
Hey guys,
I've decided to pick up a 300/221 20" Contender carbine barrel for my son to start deer hunting w/.

I'm expecting short ranges, inside 100 yards. I've used this caliber in a 12" barrel (muzzle velocity 2200-2250 fps) successfully on our smallish LA/AR whitetail w/ 125 gr NBT and 130 Hornady SSP (#3021) bullets.

I'm expecting to get a muzzle velocity of 2400-2500 fps out of the carbine barrel. In handgun barrels, JD Jones recs 125 gr NBT or 125 Speer. Given the extra fps w/ the carbine barrel, what bullet would y'all recommend? In addition to the aforementioned NBT, TNT and Hornady SSP, the Sierra 135 gr SSP comes to mind. On a side note, I've read on the 'net that Hornady has discontinued this bullet.

They've not yet responded to my e-mail regarding this; also asked them whether their 130 SP bullet (#3020) could be used in place of the SSP. Any advice regarding this bullet, as well?
