MuskegMan.30-30 w/130 TSX report
I would like to file this field report.
Took this blacktail buck this weekend with my T/C carbine.
Specs:
T/C G1 frame - 20" SS Custom shop bbl
.30-30 chambering
34.0 gr IMR 4895 Fed 210 primer
130 TSX about 0.010" off lands
Range was ~75yds.
Shot placement was below the spine, clipping the top of the lungs on the way in. Complete pass thru exiting the right shoulder.
The deer:
The rig:
The carnage:
I know I can work this load a bit higher. I'm thinking 35.0 gr. I am happy with the bullet performance. I tried the 150 gr BT's, but the TSX shot circles around them.
This rifle will see more action in the furture. A joy to carry all day still hunting at under 5.5#

6.5BRNO deer will know a grain of powder difference, as you know the bullet is doing the deed, Congrats on your fine hunt.
I loved 130 mag tips in my TC Handgun in the past, 125 b tip too frangible for me, and 125s did not show me anything for downrange BC etc. Longer copper bullets may be higher?
Do know many use the 130x in 308s, etc. with good results and there may have been a 140, not sure.
Good choice.
