Yes? No? Maybe. The 7x57 works with bullets up to 175 gr. which might be a problem due to magazine lenght problems in most, if not all 7-08s.
Of course, not too many people like or even want to use 175gr. bullets in either cartridge so I suppose the point is moot. However, a bullet I really like for the 7x57 is the now long discontinued 170 gr. round nose bullet Sierra used to make. Very accurate in my Winchester M70 Featherweight usually doing .375" cloverleafs when I do my part. They'd take up way too much powder space in the 7-08 as would the Hornady 175 gr. round nose. My 7x57 doesn't much care for 175 gr. spitzers though.
