JeffreyPhDWell now. That is quite a starting point for getting into No. 1 rifles. Very nice. Not familiar with the cartridge so I did a search. A very capable round.

bpesteveIt's good to see that the people in Ferlach can still turn out a beautiful product!
And assuming your 8x75RS cartridge designation is correct and not just a typo for 8x57RS, you should be set up for as far as the eye can see. Certainly farther than I can see!

No typo at all. She is an 8x75RS through and through. Shooting 200 grain rounds. Not cheap ammo but I'll have to find a reload solution as I don't hand load myself. Excited about this rifle, the cartridge and the whole thing!

mdstewartI owned for many years a Merkel Sidelock DR in 8x75R. Great shooting DR and a great caliber. Handloading only. Regret selling that one. I think it now resides in Texas.

It's been purported that the 8x75R was Hermann Goering's favorite hunting caliber.

I wonder if he would have found it adequate for Auroch, had he been able to recreate them as he imagined.
You'll have to ask him. Oh...wait... :-)
