What are #2s, #3s, 1As, 1Bs etc????
I have recently fell in love with the Ruger #1 and am trying to gather as much knowledge as possible. Can anyone explain to me what all of the letter codes mean. Also what are Ruger #2s, and #3s?

if you go to a ruger catalog or 2 or gun digests etc. you will find the differances between #1's most of the letter changes are stock design, barrel weight/length etc. the #3 was an economy based #1, without any frills.

This is a link to the Ruger websight. It will explain the differences on current production #1's. You may also order a catalog there.

There is no official #2. I posted a pic a long time ago of what I call a #2, which is a #3 action with #1 wood.

I think it makes a neat rifle. I have 4 of them, 223, 30-40, 375 Win, and 45-70.
