Anyone remember who was making the side lever falling block actions a couple of years back?

N. GarrettSteve Earle makes a side hammer falling block that is an exact copy of the (Frank) Wesson action from the late 1800's.
People say that it's a copy of the Alexander Henry action (they look the same), but actually it was Wesson who invented (and manufactured) the action first. Alexander Henry simply copied it.
I have one...being finished now (slowly).

ACRecurveHi Garrett,
Do you have contact info for Steve Earle? I've been corresponding with Tom Griffin, but haven't decided yet what action I'm gonna use. Thanks.
Good hunting,
Andy

N. GarrettAndy,
I have his contact info back at the house (I'm at work as I type this).
I'll get it for you.
Steve is a great guy. He makes 2 other falling block actions as well.
They are of amazing fit and finish. Does it on machining/milling equipment at his home.
I have some other custom actions (including a Dakota Model 10 falling block)...his is the best I own.

I, too, was under the impression Henry was first. What evidence is available?
I didn't know Earle made other actions already. Which are they? I heard he was working on an improved Ballard, but that it wasn't out yet.

hstGentlemens:
Mr. Earle is currently only producing one action, the Frank Wesson #1 long range action. It is without question the finest action I have ever worked with.
Here, if the picture thing works, is a couple pictures of one that has been dressed up a bit...

N. GarrettGun Digest 2007 has some pictures of the second type of action Steve Earle is making.
It's an underlever falling block (different than the Ballard's that I know of).
When I last spoke to Steve he was taking orders for the newer type actions, but hadn't shipped any as yet.
I have the type of action pictured above. Just got my barrel from Wind River Rifles: half octagon/half round, with integral quarter rib.
I'm sending the action off to the engraver shortly.
