Falling Block Action ID
I just happened upon a falling block action but don't know exactly what it is.
Would you experts on the subject be able to tell me what kind it is....and, where one might find a few parts?
The bottom tang is broken off but that isn't hard to fix.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

That looks like a raw machined Searcy stalking rifle action.
He will know....

Dpcd, I would say your right, but not one after I bought the rights to the action. A little history here.
I bought the rights to this action from the widow of a man that bought it from a company in one of the Carolina's, which I believe is where that one comes from.
From the looks of that action I believe I'd leave it as scrap.
The metal in that one is 4140, I changed the alloys of my production to 8620 and 17-4 Stainless.

BLS,
Could it have come from Fairview, NC? Maybe L.C. Rice or Liston Rice. Those guys were only about 5 miles from me. I think one of them makes muzzle loader barrels now. I didn't think about them until you mentioned it but they did produce a single shot back in the late 80's or early 90's.

Yes I believe they were the guys. I have a video tape of them giving training to the guy I got it from.
