Buy a new Uberti and rebarrel it with a Badger or Green Mountain. There are no manufacturers stampings on the action to identify it as Italian.

Hold still varmint; while I plugs yer!
If'n I miss, our band of 45/70 brothers, will fill yer full of lead!

Been there and done that. I've got a couple of original barrels and a very nice set of wood stocks, so I thought I'd try to put an original one togather. Thanks.

Wilcat,
I have a custom sporter based on original specs built on an original 1885 by Schuetzen Gun Co. that i'll let go for way less than what i paid for it if you're interested. It has a 26" #3 octagonal badger barrel, bone color cased reciever and butt plate, Marbel's tang sight, smith ladder barrel sight and silver blade front sight. the stock is straight grained black walnut witha little figure and the forend has an ebony insert per original.

I'm really looking for just an action. I have a couple of original High Wall barrels and a nice set of wood stocks with butt plate. Was hoping to put one togather using these parts. Thank You.

Degoins. What do you need out of your rifle and could you send pictures and more information? Like, what's it chambered for, etc. Thanks..

Your talking about $500 plus for an in the white action ! who is going to head space it ? who is going to Blue it for you ? after all that is done you will have more in it than buying a new one from Uberti Ready to go and you name the caliber .

Wildcat,
I'll take 1400.00 for it. It's a 45-70. There is no checkering on the wood. I had it built to as closley duplicate a factory sporter as possible. At one point, someone who had the action apparently polished part of the original serial number off of it so the serial number is now my birth date. It's a smokeless action and I've fired about 200 rounds through it, none hot. I'll try to post some pictures of it when I get home today.

Anyone that knows of any $500 Winchester 85 actions (low or high wall) for sale, let me know please! I'll buy them all.

You can get actions from at least three places - none of the cheap, but all of them very good.

The best may be
http://www.ballardrifles.com/
And then
http://www.meachamrifles.com/
and
http://www.csharpsarms.com/

I'll do my own blueing and gunsmithing. And I'd be real happy to find one for 500.00.....An original, that is.
