Anyone converted a 357 Mag Handi Rifle to 357 Maximum? Thought it might make a fine cast bullet rifle and maybe even harvest a deer with it.

Yup I have . Had JD Jones cut the chamber for me. It was a .357 mag and I think the twist is 1 in 18.5. I is a fair shooter and I have killed one deer with it, but i used jacketed bullets. I have not used cast bullets in it but it sure should shoot them alright. I also have a NEF factory barrel in that chambering and I believe they are still availiable form the factory if you call and ask. Last I knew they still had some around.

There are several people I know or know of who have done this. To a man, they report great results.

The Max is a great rifle cartridge. I get about 2000 fps with the 180 gr. Speer FP in my Contender and that beats some .30-30s! AND you can resize with a carbide die!!!

I'm with the gents above, I don't have a NEF, but have a 21 inch contender barrel and it's the aces, 35 remington ballistics with carbide dies...yehah!
