Ruger #1 ..what year did they switch barrel source

I have an older Number 1 1B in 30-06 and Ruger says the ship date on such was April of 1974. I asked them who made their barrels at the time and they couldn't identify the particular mfg just that they were external. Anyone have any ideas on who could have made the barrel. Thanks
