IgnobilisRuger no1 - Tight Chamber
I own two Ruger no1's - in 7x57 & 375H&H. Both produce velocities well (75 to 100fps) above expectation for the loads I'm using. For example, my little 22" barreled 7x57 shoots the same 175gr ammo at 2450fps that clocks 2400fps in my mate's Mannlicher. The 375H&H is similar, but not quite as tight.
Any other no1. owners experienced anything similar?

MuskegManSounds more like "fast barrels" than "tight chambers" to me.
50-100 fps seems like a normal variation from barrel-to-barrel in the given chambering (same bbl length.)

Could it be that your No. 1 has a shorter throat than your friend's M/S? I have a No. 1 7X57 made in 1976 that has a long throat, but many people have been complaining about the long throated Ruger No. 1's, and perhaps they've shortened this dimension?? My M/S 7X57mm carbine also has a long throat, and ammo made for the No. 1 works equally well in the M/S. However, it is about 50-75 FPS slower in the M/S, which I have always attributed to the 20" barrel on the M/S.....

ireload2The only "Mannlicher" I own is a 1900 M95 made by Steyr and the mint bore has a groove diameter of .268 which is .004 larger than the so called standard for 6.5.

Atkinson50 to 100 FPS difference in (between) barrels is not unusual at all. You have fast barrels and slow barrels in all makes.
