The 1A should have nothing larger than a Leupold 2X-7X-28 at the largest. A fixed power 2.5X or 4X Leupold Compact would be even better.

I mounted a 4x Leupold compact on my .458 (rechambered to .458 Lott) #1 and have been less than totally happy with it due to eye relief problems, I know the Leupolds probably have the most eye relief around (4.9"?) but it is a little less than I find comfortable, by that I mean I have to stock creep just a little, I could cut the stock but I don't want to change the lenght of pull.
My other #1 has a 3.5-10 vari-X 111 which is just about perfect for me, I am looking at buying a Leupold in a 1-4 x 20 or a 1.5-5 x 20, being able to move the scope back that extra 1/2" (no bell on the front) should solve the problem, and yes I already have Ruger's offset rings fitted which did go a long way to solving the problem.

why does it matter? just curious not saying your wrong. I have a 6-24x44 burris on my 1B so I don't unterstand
