Encore barrels
I was wondering if you all could tell me where you purchase most of your barrels. Do you buy from t/c or else were that may be better or cheaper. Also do any of you have pictures of a S.S. frame with blued barrel on it I’m just wondering how bad it looks if it looks bad at all.

I have Encore barrels from Bullberry, MGM, TC Customshop. Some I bought used, some new They are all good barrels. I do not and will not own an Encore barrel from EABCO!IMO they a P.O.S.
Putting a SS barrel on a blued frame or vice versa looks fine to me, I'm not looking to win any beauty contest just want the rile to shoot good so I don't give a shiete how other people think it looks!

In former times, eBay. Currently from Gunbroker.com. I've gotten a few that were listed on various forums and several from T/C. All except one of my barrels, by the way, are T/C barrels.

I have 3 T/C Encore barrels (25-06, 243, 22-250) and 1 T/C Custom shop in 17 Rem. You can buy T/C barrels from any number of mail order outlets, Graf & Sons, Midway, and others.

Thanks for the info. I haven’t got my encore rifle yet but when I do I’ll will be looking for another barrel soon after. I want a ‘06 to start with then a 204 when I get the money again. I am going to a gun show next weekend to get some prices and do some looking around. Would you guys recommend buying the complete gun or frame then look else were for barrels.

If you can get the frame/barrel combo that you want, why not buy a complete rifle?

Ok thanks I guest I just didn’t know if the combos were much more then buying separate or not. I am going to spend the week trying to get some prices. Any idea what a 26" 30-o6 with black synthetic stock and stainless steel barrel would be going for.

I don’t know what the cost of the frames are anymore. I bought the 2 I own a number of years ago. As I recall the action was about the same price as a barrel. Barrels run $255-$285 at Midway. There are better prices out there, but Midway catalogs all the caliber’s T/C makes. I'm sure someone will give us a price check today sometime. Wink

I own a 204 in a Ruger No. 1B. I like the round. I bought the 17 Rem. T/C barrel for coyotes. After using both rounds for a while now. I like the 204 better.

Cridertj,

You don’t have to say thanks every time I reply to you. You are just one of the guys now and we’re just having a slow conversation. Wink

I buy my barrels from Bullberry and MGM. Both excellent barrels. I have 2 factory barrels; one in .223 and .50 BP but my new barrel in .260 is promising to be the best.

Below is a picture of a SS action with a blued barrel. The barrel was made by MGM. It is 28 inches and the cartridge is 6.5X284.

IMO if you want an Encore You should order the barrel and action separate. The Encore will need a trigger job. A good thing to do is buy your frame from a gunsmith that can do the trigger job at the same time. That will save you alot of shipping expense. Let the gunsmith make a couple of extra bucks. I am pretty sure you will get a great trigger job if you do. I have a Bellm trigger job and a Stratton trigger job. Both are second to none. Pick your barrel and stock-then go. You will have less money in this setup than what a Pro Hunter costs. And IMO you will have a better setup. Tom.
