Just wondering if any of our AR members have dealt w/ the Henry single shot rifles?

Alex. Henry rifles were superbly built, they were BPE rifles, many of them Best Quality. I very much like them.

Are you talking about Alexander Henry, the Scotts rifle-builder who actually designed most of the action that Farquharson was later credited for, or the new Henry company who make reproduction arms, mostly lever-action rifles?

The first are superb, the second looks like a cheap break-action along the lines of the old Stevens/Savage combination .22-.410's.

I was asking about the new Henry single shot rifles made in WI now.
I am in need of such a rifle in a new straight wall, single shot State here for this Fall, for deer season only.

I don't have one. But I've read a number of reviews. Mostly all positive. Mostly 1.5" accuracy. Some people report better. I wanted an NEF/Handi-rifle at one point and was looking at these once those were gone. Also, looks like T/C is coming back in the near future if you like break actions.

I bought a 30-30 when they were first available.It was nice looking.The trigger was crude terrible .It shot a foot low with the sight elevated all the way at 50 yards.Then after I sold it at a lose they had a recall.I would still like to have one if the trigger was decent and the sights could be regulated.

Take a look at the CVA single shot rifles as well. I don't have an experience with them, but I've read quite a few positive reviews. If you're going to put a scope on your rifle, you'll find the CVA stock dimensions more scope friendly than the Henry.

I have a CVA Scout V2, main difference is the V2 takes down like a shotgun with a latch on the forend. I am quite happy with mine for what it is, single shot deer rifle with ballistics better than the muzzle loader I was using previously. I'm satisfied with the trigger, the only related issue I've had was the little stud that screws into the hammer was on the right side and I moved it to the left once. The first time I shouldered the rifle to check it I discovered when I cocked the hammer my thumb hit the ocular lens on the scope and the curve of the lens actually pushed my thumb off the hammer causing it to fall! So just keep that thumb stud on the right hand side. Other than that the ergonomics are pretty good. Visuals look like you're carrying a glamorized H&R Topper but plenty of people think way worse things about me than that so what...

I got mine in 444 Marlin is now 3 for 3 in 1 shot stops. First deer ran about 80 feet then stopped and I shot it a second time but that was unnecessary. Other 2 pretty much dropped on the spot. The barrel is a little on the heavy side but I do most of my hunting from blinds/stands so weight isn't a big deal. Anyway, I'm 92% happy with it and think it's one of the best values in the single shot/straight wall cartridge market we have today.

Watching this thread, as the .360 Buckhammer fascinates me for some reason, but then I am seeing it loaded with a charge of compressed Swiss FFg and a paper-patched soft lead bullet -- sort of younger descendant of the .32-40 and the .38-55.

I have had 2 of the Henry 22 lever actions and they were fantastic shooters with superb Walnut. I also have 2 of their single shots one chambered in 357 Maximum and the other in 357 x 44 Bain & Davis. The 357 B&D rifle is a fantastic shooter and the 357 Maximum rifle shoots even better than the other one. Both have very nice Walnut. The 360 Buck Hammer is an interesting round also.

I like my Henry S/S.360 Buckhammer enough that I MIGHT take it to MN this Fall for Black bear? (I finally drew a permit!)

It did a fine job on a whitetail buck this past Fall for me using Rem. 180 gr. CoreLokt ammo.
