7mm mag or 300 win mag???
Hi All. Question: If you were to have one barrel on a thompson pro hunter for all round game from africa to north america would you pick 7mm mag or a 300win mag??

i just bought a new rifle and my choices were 7mm mag or 300win., i went with the 300win.

Another vote for the 300. The 7 is a nice round but the 300 has the ability to go with much heavier bullets.

I think I'd seriously consider the 338 Win Mag, factory ammo and bullets available from 160gr to 300gr.

Z,

I have both and each has it's place in The-Grand-Scheme-of-Things ..... for a one for everything rifle I'd go with the 300 Win Mag.

I really love the 7 mag and 300 mag, but if only one was available I would have to choose the .338. Now there's a real bang up cartridge.
