I know that Dakota sells their Model 10 action, and I think it goes for around $1900 US. Navy Arms used to sell large size Rolling Block actions.
I think your best bet, depending on what type of single shot you want, is to buy a complete used rifle with the action you want, and have the action stripped. Sell the wood, barrel, etc, and you will have less in the action in the long run. Good luck on your project and make sure to post pics!

like butchloc said, the best way price wise for a good action is to find a used #1. if you find the right caliber, it's only wood, bluing and maybe trigger to make a nice gun. there are 2 at my local gander mountain right now for $6-7.00 and gander is mighty proud of thier used guns.

The best way (at least for me) is to look around all the web sites and see if a Ruger No 1 can be found for a reasonalbe price--$500-$600 and begin there. If the barrel is good, and in a caliber I want, then I just restock it and put in a Jard trigger. Since I make stocks for a living, this is no problem for me.
I have looked at the Dakota, but do not want to pay that much when I see nothing wrong with the Ruger.

if you want a bolt action single shot , Sako made some...should be some around your part of the world.

Look at the custom action makers for just an action. Nesika Bay comes to mind, as does Lawson. Many of the custom actions are made to fit the Remington 700 short action. This makes barreling and stocking a pretty easy proposition. There are many triggers to fit these actions, as well. A very fine Nesika action is about $1100. A Lawson 7500 is about $800. You might want to clarify your goal and requirements, i.e. action type, accuracy expected, game(s) to be hunted(played), rifle configuration, sighting arrangement, etc. so we can give a more-informed response.

C. Sharps Arms sells actions. 1885 Win. High wall and 1874/1877 Sharps side hammers. Check their website.

American Gun Company, an adjunct of McMillan barrels, sells Winchester Highwall copies and complete rifles. Google them and take a look. I just bought two actions that I'll have engraved and then send them back to AGC to finish the rifles.

I talked to to Hagn yesterday and they are very friendly and couteous. Their actions sell for $3000 and the half octigon barrel with front sight and rib milled integral to the barrel is $2850 if I remeber the barrel price correctly.The picture that SDH provided shows the above. For my customers, and myself, I think that I will stick with the Ruger No1's and buy the actions/rifles when I can.

Is American Gun Company still in business? I cannot find a link to their website.

You're right, it's McGowen that American Gun Co is affiliated with. These first actions are made under contract by outside vendors. Later actions will be made in-house on their own CNCs. The action costs about half the cost of a rifle. I can't build a rifle for what they can, so I'm just going to have the actions engraved and send them back to American to complete. One rifle will be a lightweight, long-barreled .30-40. The other will either be a lightweight .25-35 or a .45-70 BPCR. By buying the action and sending it back for completion, I may be able to avoid the excise tax.

Soroka is not selling actions, complete rifles only.

If you like hammer guns the Steve Earle reproduction of the Frank Wesson #1 Long Range action is the finest made action I have ever worked with.
