Yep it can and with some good results, I took mine apart and polished up all contact points, didn't change any angles just smoothed and polished. Results are amazing for kitchen table gunsmith. You might want to get a few e-clips from your local Auto Parts store to replace the copper ones Mossberg uses. If you have never did a trigger job before I suggest you have a buddy that knows what he is doing walk you through it. Just go easy. My SSI has a 30/06 barrel, I wished I had gotten the 308 barrel instead, less recoil and I'm already setup to reload for the 308. Nothing wrong with the 06 it's just that I like the 308 better.
