df06WTB new production Win 1885 38-55
I am looking for a new production, new or slightly use Winchester 1885 Traditional Sporter in 38-55. This is a gun with a pistol grip and shotgun style butt, as opposed to a curved butt.
I you know where there is one for sale, please let me know.
Thanks

Big Bore Fan Damn!http://www.winchesterguns.com/...ail.asp?id=534183117It´s a really nice rifle. Since a few years, I´m searching a rifle chambered for the .38-55. And I´m a absolute single shot fan, "one shot is enought".
But it would be very difficult to get this new produced Winchester rifle here in Germany. Hmmmmm........

Big Bore FanHmmm....
I asked some general dealers for import such a rifle. But I got not really "good" informations. It´s impossible, to order such a rifle.
Shown at the shot show, the rifle is "out of stock" in the USA? Can´t believe this.

dozer2I did not know they made one in that configuration. I had one of the older ones and sold it. I thought I could put a BPCR stock on it but It wasn't possible.
I had an original action rebuilt into one with a 12 twist half round barrel to match the Browning BPCRs I have.

No they have never made this rifle. They have been advertised about a year now. I expect they will show up on the auction sites first.

390ishCDNN had them in 3 different lengths but sold out of the long and mid length barrels almost immediately. Think they still have trappers

SR4759The "shotgun butt and pistol grip" configuration in .38-55 has not been put on the market so far as I know. When it is, it will probably show up at the auction sites like Gunbroker first.

Big Bore FanYes, pic´s would be cool.
At the moment, I stopped my current projects. In Germany, the discussion is restartet, to get a gun tax. Bremen will do this from 01/01/2012, 300.-€ /gun , every year. Other counties will do this than again. Or in the future complete Germany.

I have 19 guns.........

That is really bad. I pray it does not happen.
Is the groove diameter of these Winchesters .375 or the original .378 to .380?

Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

SR4759The Highwall 38-55 tested tested by Mike Venturino I believe was a .377 and was very accurate. However it was the crescent steel butt with straight grip version.

458diaHello,
The rifles are now in stock as of the Friday before Christmas. (http://www.winchesterguns.com/products/catalog/itemdetail.asp?id=534183142 )
I just received the rifle above, but in the caliber of 45-70. It is absolutely beautiful. If you are on the fence about getting one, I would heartily recommend it. I can’t wait to get a chance to take it to the range (I have been a bit busy).
The rifle has all of the qualities that I wanted in an 1885; pistol grip, full tang, and a 28” barrel, in a not-to-heavy package.
All I have to do now is find scope mounts so I can do load development. Then it is to get a good set of iron sights.
Next?

SR4759I saw a 45/70 on Gunbroker but the guy said he would not be getting the other calibers.
