Pedestal357 Max pics
Here is a link to some pics of the .357 Max Martini-Cadet project. When the page opens, type in "Pedestal" in the "Visit Album" box on the left side of the screen.

45LCshooterNice pictures. How does it shoot?
I was a little annoyed when I read the 357 Max. article in Handloader and no mention was made of performance in rifle-length barrels; seems the ideal place for the cartridge. Well, I don't want to start anything on your thread, happy shooting.

LeftoverdjNow that's just cuter than a redheaded gal with freckles!
Pity the red dot sight didn't work out. That installation looks just right.
Whatcha figger on shooting with it?
I've been playing with an H&R rechambered to the Max. Rifle barrel gives a BIG increase in velocities, enough to push .35 Rem hard with 200 grain bullets. Best powders for me have been AA-5744 and H-322. I favor 180 and 200 grain jacketed since the lighter bullets just don't make any sense to me in a rifle. Cast bullets in 173 grain SWC and a 215 grain GCRN shoot we;; enough so that I don't plan to buy any more jacketed bullets unless I am gonna shoot something that bleeds.

PedestalWell, I hope to use it on a whitetail this fall! Where I hunt ranges are usually short, so I think it'll work fine. I haven't had a chance to really try to work up any loads, yet. For testing purposes, I've just been using 22grs of 296 with both the 158/160 grainers and the 180gr Speer that's made for the .35 Rem. I had part of an old box of Speer 160gr jacketed semi-wad cutters that I managed to shoot a few of today. Unfortunately, I don't think Speer makes this particular bullet anymore. At least, I can't find it listed. It's a shame too, as the little rifle seems to like them, and they cut VERY neat holes in the paper. For deer, I don't want to use a hollow point. Want something that'll hopefully punch right thru.
Loading/unloading with the scope is a pain; once I see how it'll really shoot, I may spring for an Aimpoint, or one of those "Holo" jobs...

<aim4thefur>Very nice! I have a similar project in mind with the .256 Win. Mag. Did you do the stock work?

PedestalYes, I did the stock work. It was a semi-inlet set from Fajen's I aquired years ago... Finshed with Tru-Oil.
