Those drill guides are a nice way to keep the screws at right angles to the buttplate and grip cap.
Very similar to drill guides we use in spine surgery for cervical plating.

steve - that trigger guard on the dakota 10 is masterful. it changed the appearance of the whole rifle to a much much smoother stouter look
