1. Get one in stainless steel with a synthetic stock and it will be good for adverse conditions.
2. It is strong and reliable.
3. Accuracy depends on your definition of accuracy. My 22-250 with a little load developement does about 0.75 MOA, my 7mm Rem. Mag. does about 0.75 MOA and my 30/06 a little less than 1 MOA. The 375 H&H Mag. barrel I use to have was good for about 1.5 MOA. That is all for 3 shot groups at 100 yards; that is accurate enough for me and those are all factory barrels. If you get a custom barrel, you may do even better.

KDM CustomI love the Thompson Center Encore. I have several big bore barrels, 50 Alaskan, 405 Winchester, 416 Rigby, 375 H&H and 338-06. It's accurate and reliable.

tom ga huntert depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If you live where you are restricted to 1 frame if not there are better options. I live in the southeast & hunt where a long shot is 200 yds. I have had an encore frame for 4 years & contenders for 15. I currently have 2 Encore frames, 3 stock sets , a 223 26" bbl & a 24" 338'06. Last year this time I had 1 frame ,26" 223,26" 25'06, 24" 7-08 & 24" 338'06 barrel. Since I had more accurate better handling bolt actions I got rid of the mid range barrels & got an extra frame. the 223 is a 3/4" rifle with any load but the 338'06 patterns everything other than 200gr hornadys. Although I have had the Encoe for a good while it has never been carried on a big game hunt, the 223 does great on turtles.
From a cost stand poing a frame & plastic stock cost $250 & the barrels are about $200 used, so a 2 barrel set up is $650. Around here m700 Adls can still be bought used for $325. In otherwords you save $50. To have a encore rather than 2 m700's. If I had to cut back to 1 platform it would be a g2 contender with 22lr, 223, 7-30, & 375 winchester barrels. They are about a pound leaa than an encore & are adequate for the way I hunt

nordrsetaMine is accurate and reliable, but the ergonomics are pretty poor. It's okay as a pistol if a fella's hands are on the large side, but it doesn't handle like a rifle, let alone like a shotgun. I much prefer the handling of the Contender in the carbine format, but it doesn't come in as many modern high-intensity chamberings.
