What would you offer for a NIB Ruger No1 .22 Hornet if a dealer offered $699 down from $850 since you knew it had been on his shelf since 2007?

I personally would consider paying the $699 if it is truly new in the box and he won't come down. These are not real common on the market, as they have a lot of collector demand and fewer are turning up each year. I see a lot more No. 3's than No. 1's in Hornet.

That's a pretty good deal on a NIB #1 regardless of caliber. I have a #1 in Hornet, and like Art said, they aren't very common. Offer him $650, all he can say is no or maybe "screw you".

Personally, I think that is a steal for a new in the box No.1 Hornet. If it was here locally and I iknew where it was, it would be in MY vault by now.

I know where I could sell it for $800 or more, so I wouldn't be worried about its value. But I wouldn't sell it anyway. Those are scarce little guns and a lot of fun to shoot.

Don' t look a gift horse in the mouth just because it is now 4 or 5 years old.

That truly is a steal! The Hornet was discontinued, and the prices will only go up.

I belive I paid $600 for my hornet new twenty years ago, seems like a good deal to me. Great groundhog rifle with the 35gr v-max.

I think a lot of guys get hung up on price.

I reckon if I can get a rifle I want for a reasonable ammount I'll take it.

Especially number ones, in wierd calibers.

I'd buy for that price.

The Cabele's in Lacey Wa has 3 #1's all used and all over $790. One of them a 416 Rigby w/ a really beat up stock I'm thinking was over $1100 and a 405 Winchester that I don't think was a factory barrel was over $900

I think that's a more than fair price. A guy was looking at my #1B in .22 Hornet and asked if I'd sell it. He sadi name your price and I said, "$900." he couldn't whip his wallet out fast enough.
Anybody that wants my #1H in .416 Rigby can have it for $3,500. before you cuss me out, it comes with 12 boxes of federal Premium ammo, 6 boxes of softs and 6 boxes of solids, one box of once fired brass (Federal), the dies to load it and several boxes of various bullet for reloading. The gun is real clean and has been well cared for. Why sell it" Well, to be honest, reality ha set in. Unless I have a rich uncle croak and leave me a lot on money or I just happen to win the lottery, I doubt I'll ever make it to Africa, especially at my age. (73) So maybe someone who can go and feels a single shot is no handicap just might be interested. BTW, that federal ammo was $215 a box when I bought it.

A new #1 in any caliber for $699.00 is a no brainer. Buy it and be grateful before someone else does.
