Ruger #1 .300 H&H 2nd Attempt
As I promised, below are some pictures of my new #1 in .300 H&H. I got really lucky with very nice wood, a great trigger, and a gun that shoots sub moa consistently with factory Hornady 180 IB's.

Also notice the new safety which was replaced by Dan Atwood of ACR in Chickamauga, GA. Dan not only replace the safety with the new one that allows complete ejection on every round, but he also polished and adjusted it so that it is completely smooth and without noise. I also added a Pachmayer Red Decelerator Pad to get the LOP to 14.25".

Not a custom rifle, but damn good. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks, Mike

Biebs,

I'm so frustrated with Photobucket that I may have to use this .300 H&H on myself. What a piece of sh't way to have to post photos. Yes, I know you're an expert at it; but I find it absoulutely the worst system I have ever seen.

I have posted these photos 3 times, and all I'm getting are xxxx's.

I guess the gods don't want me to share this beautiful gun with you all. I quit for tonight. I may try again in the morning.

Photobucket is soooooo very easy anyone can do it.
Among the posting options available in your Photobucket album are you copying and pasting the one that starts "IMG" ? (The fourth of four options), labeled as "IMG Code".

My "Britishfied" 300 H&H red pad. (started life as a 1B 30-06) Made a "few "changes.

Mike, you've got some nice figure in that stock, and I love the safety.

Yes, the buttstock is factory. And yes, I do regret selling it to him.
CRYBABY

You should see the groups it shoots!

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

I put that saftey on all three of my #1's. I love them. They have been advertised in Rifle magazine. 59.99 from www.tropgun.com

I agree, I love that safety. But, not until my gunsmith polished it, and smoothed it out. The Ruger #1 safety is very effective, yet noisy and clunky. Even with the replacement safety, it needed to be refined to make in smooth and without noise. Mine is now perfect, and still highly effective.

Thanks for sharing.
