Re: Martini & Hagn
Forrest,
I first became aware of Hagn's rifles in an article Jim Carmichel wrote in the early 1990's and have wanted one ever since. I think Mr. Carmichel should quit writing or help to fund my obsession with the rifles he introduces me to. I'll be in Reno at the ACGG and SCI shows for my first time. I'm hoping to talk to the folks at Martini & Hagn and, maybe, place an order. Say a nice single shot mountain stalking rifle in something like a 275 H&H or 280 Ross?

Complete rifles start at about $8500. Actions are around $2500. Ralf can make a concave tapered intergral rib barrel which is a work of art but probably adds another $2K or so.

And they're probably the best single shots built in north America. IMHO - Dan

You guys have to bring this up and post pictures like that on the eve of the ACGG convention. I start to thinking, and end up coming home in debt.

Now knock it off.

A friend of mine had one of these built about a year ago, fully engraved and so forth. I saw it and it is a very lovely piece of work; the quality is similiar to a best effort Jerry Fisher rifle I saw in the USA some time ago.

I didn't care for Hagn's re-stocking job on a Dakota 76 I handled last year, but, the single shots are superb. I was offered a pre-owned, as new one for $26,000 CDN. and I think the one I just mentioned came to about $18,000 CDN, new.

A lot of money, but, a very fine rifle and what would a Giles Whittome cost?
