When did TC first make Encores ??

I just bought an older Encore frame and was wondering what year did TC build the first ones ??

I first saw one at the shot show I belive it was 97.

One of my old gun magazines has a write up story about a (at that time unnamed) handgun from TC that I believe was written in 1996. I believe the gun was in production in 1997.
