Ruger No. 3 Bicentennial at Auction
Thought this might just float somebody here's boat; I have no connection to the rifle or auctioneer.

There are about a dozen No. 1s in the same sale.

An absolute steal at $800 hammer. Wow!

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.

I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

That's right around what most of the No. 1s brought, a couple went considerably higher.

yes it seems like a good deal. but I believe I read in the small print that a 20.5 percent buyers premium to the auction company is added in at the end. makes the price of the item increase a bit.

Ummmm, yeah, but most of the 1s you're referring to didn't have custom stocks. Try adding a minimum of $2500-3000 to the cost of the rifle and see if you think it is a bargain or not. I was just quoted over $4000 to do a #1 stock, and that's just for the work, not including the wood.

Because of a serious deficiency in my bank account I only bid $2400 for a custom Matkinson #1 in .300 Weatherby with Leupold scope. It sold for $3000 which was way less than half of its cost, including BP, etc.

I figured that #3 was a bargain, actually a couple of #1s went for $1200+, I guess because of the scopes.
