JOE MACKRe: Talk me out of chambering my #1 action in .25-06...
I've got a No.1 in .25-06AI that is just bad ju-ju for antelope, varmints, plains mule deer, etc. The nice thing is that case forming is a snap.

How's about a .257STW?? Sounds like fun to me.

Dr. Lou25-06 is a great cartridge but if it were me, I'd go witht the 6.5-06 beause weight range of bullets and Iam a big fan of the 6.5. Lou

AtkinsonAlthough I recommended a 25-06 in an early post, for myself I would opt for a 25-35 or perhaps a 250-3000 Savage..Depending on the day of the week and the mood frame I was in...

whitey375I just got back from the range with my No.1 in 257 Roberts AI. It was throwing 100 grain TSX's at an average of 3260. Your new chambering all depends on how much work do you want to do. As far as 6.5mm's go you'll be hard pressed to beat the 6.5mm STW or 6.5mm/300WBY or 6.5mm/338 Ultra Mag. But if you want to just be different, try a 6.5mm x 348 Winchester Ackley Improved. Probably be the only one on your block with one.

john391With regular and premium bullets the 25-06 is even more verstile than it was 20 years ago. Just great for western game. John
