22 Magnum BSA Martini
Hey, Mark at First Stop just put up a BSA Martini on Guns America for $435. It's been converted from 22 LR to 22 Mag. Can't beat the price!

I spent a lot of effort and money to make a BSA martini reliably extract and eject 22 Mag. It just wouldn't work. I have a spare 22 Mag barrel to prove it.

I have a BSA converted to 22 mag. I sent the gun to a gunsmith out of state who was supposed to be familiar with these rifles to be re-chambered. He ruined the barrel, so installed a Shilen barrel on and charged me a lot more than originally quoted. That was fine, until I discovered that he'd stripped a scope base mounting hole in the barrel and covered up his carelessness with glue.
After more money to a local guy, it's a great rifle.
NO MORE out of state gunsmiths for me. If I can't drive to where he's at, he won't see my gun!

There are a lot of Martini's converted from 22lr to 22WMR here in New Zealand, most use the original barrel......I've got 3 done like this and haven't had any problems, I've also got a couple of MKII Internationals converted to 17HMR using liners in the barrel.......Kiwi

I am the proud [?] owner of the converted BSA. Having encountering this problem with a 17 HMR I did on a Cadet I addressed the issue of the extraction problem with Mark before getting the rifle and was surprised when it came in that it has the slight bulge forward of the rim. Most extract good but occasionally one will hang up a bit. The bulge is almost invisible but there. I called him and he had his gunsmith there talk to me but that didn`t go too well. He said he had test fired the thing and it was fine! I have tried to sell the thing on GB etc and some lurker named bates or something like that comes screaming about the gun blowing up and blinding everyone within a mile and I will be sued for everything I have. If he comes near here I`ll sic my cat Bob [23lbs] on him. I don`t know what his problem is but I guess I`ll just keep it or rebarrel it or????. It shoots great and is accurate as all get out but it DOES have the slight bulge problem problem. Oh Well-- let the buyer beware.
Aloha, Mark
