KY23Anyone know what model rifle this is?
This is a friends rifle. It was passed down through his family but he doesn't know what it is. I'm no single shot expert so I hope some of you guys could help me out.
Its a Remington Single Shot and its chambered for .32 Winchester.
Here are some pictures of the rifle:

Any ideas? How can I find how when it was made? Any history on this model?
Thanks for the help,

buchsenschmeidHummmmm.
Well, the angle of the buttstock to the action dose not look like a Remington, but I am not a Remingtom expert.
Is it marked "Remington Arms Co"?
It looks like it may be a Rimington style rifle, of which there were others made by several companys. Some under licence from Remington, and several without permission.
Are there any other markings on it at all? There were some "Remington knock offs" made in Belgium. The man You need to contact on this is A.J. White, in Shoshoni Wyoming. He's more knowledgeable that any one I know on these old cartrige guns.

KY23I'm pretty sure its a Remington. The top of the barrel is marked: "Remington Arms Co. Ilion, NY"
Here is a picture of those markings:

DEPUTY450It is a Remington "Rolling block" rifle. And it looks quite nice for its age.

19RomeoIm not an expert on Remington rolling blocks myself, but
I would say its chambered in .32-20 but not positive. That
gun is in very good shape for its age. There is a small
book on Remington rolling blocks but I have never read it

SCGunNutWe have a Remington rolling block very similar to that one on consignment at the shop I work part time in. Nobody knew exactly what cartridge it was chambered for when I started there, all they knew was that it was a ".32". They had tried .32 S&W Longs & .32/20s in it and it was obviously neither of those. I happened to have an old box of .32 Short Colts at home and they dropped right into the chamber just as pretty as you please. It has a "long" chamber though so it is a .32 Long Colt. These guns were chambered for many different cartridges and I'd agree that yours is likely a .32/20 as it surely wouldn't be a .32 Win. Spl.

Dave JamesLooks like the No-2 action in 32-20 or 32 rim maybe, i would bet tho its 32-20

buchsenschmeidWhoops.....
My mistake! I guess it is a Remington.
A.J. White would be able to tell You about it.

Wildcat CrazyIt appears to be a No.2 Sporting rifle.Note the angle where the rear of the receiver meets the wrist of the stock.
The shape of the stock and forearm are correct for the No.2.
The sights appear to be correct also for the No.2.
The 32Win.Spl.was not chambered in the No.2,I don't believe the 32/20 WCF or the 32/30 Rem was either. If the shank of an 11/32 drill bit will not enter the chamber, that will rule out the 32/20 and the 32/30.proper caliber for this rifle should be the .32 rimfire long or it's centerfire version.Check the firing pin location.

KY23It is a centerfire rifle for sure. Anyone know a production date for this rifle? I e-mailed Remington a few days ago with the pictures attached but still haven't heard back from them.
Thanks again for the help.

craigsterSlug the barrel and do a chamber cast and you'll find out the exact chambering.
