Festus, Go ahead and get one at a little over 200 bucks, you can't go wrong. Have one in 7x57 and its quite a rifle for the money. Thinking about one in .243 also in the youth model for a young step son.

Worth every penny. Have the 30-06 and .223 barrels. You can get .223 in 24" Like all rifles, they have their issues, but I sure like mine. New barrels are available for around $100. ea. You have to send in the receiver, and they will do a trigger job for free (most are heavy out of the box). Check out the web site at

I have a NEF 243 with the bull barrel. It is a very accurate rifle...but it is very case sensitive if the case get slightly longer than a new factory case. That's why they invented trimmers for. I reload 58gr Hornady V-max bullets with 40.3gr IMR 3031 and it is blazing out the muzzle at 3924 average according to the chrony. (Zoom Zoom) [Eek!] I use my 243 for coyotes, foxes and the ocassional wolf.

This is a picture of mine. It has a BSA 4x14x40mm Contender Target Scope with millet rings.
