Ruger #1 in 577N.E or 600JDJ
Hi,
I am about to have a Ruger #1 built in either 577 Nitro Express or 600JDJ by a Norwegian gunsmith. I haven't bought the donor rifle yet. Should I build it on a stainless or a chrome moly. action? Which is the strongest?
Is there any thing may gunsmith should know of (he hasnt done this before, but he is quite familiar with the action)? I have heard that this conversion only can be done on older #1 actions, but others say that this can be done on all?
SSK still make this rifles, anyone know the price they charging for this? Maybe the best ting is to buy it directly from them.

is this the Big Bore descussion in this forum, or a seperate web forum?

It is on this forum under big bores and includes pictures.
I would recommend the 577 Nitro as it is a "factory" ctg and thus will have better resale and a little more charisma.
