Bought a Ruger 9.3x74R today
As soon as I get it shooting I will get some photos.

I am going to try the 250 Grain accubond. Looking forward to getting it going.

Now I just need to find a 338, 7x57, 450/400, 405, and 375, adn 45-70 in Number ones and I will have all the ones I want, until they come out with a 257 Weatherby!

Tell us how it works out. That certainly would be an impressive collection of No1s.

Looking forward to your feedback, I also want to buy one this month. Already bought the dies and brass.

This post propted me to post my own recent experiences with a Ruger No. 1 Medium Sporter in 9.3x74R. See "Anatomy of a WACKO Rifle Purchase - 9.3x74R" on this forum.

The 9.3x74R and the Ruger No. 1 Medium Sporter really do go well together.

It is pretty nice.

Not sure how the scope mounts are going to work, but I am also going to look into a Swarovski rail Z6 1.7-10x56.

D99 - Thus far, the Ruger medium-height extended scope mounts have worked well on my particular 9.3x74R No. 1 – no shifting or loosening whatsoever. But, we’ll see.

Keep us posted on your experiences with your rifle, and with the various scope mount systems you’ve mentioned.

I just found out that they don't make a Z6 1.7-10x56 let alon one with a rail on it. So I am probably going to end up with something else.

Swarovski makes the best rail scope to attach to a Ruger as they have made mounts for the Ruger.

D99 - I have a Lupy, 1.75 X 6, heavy duplex in Warne QD rings on my #1 in 9.3 X 74R and I like the set up. Compact, quick target acqusition and locks up tight.

I am using Norma brass, with 57gr IMR 4064, 286gr TSX and Banded solids and the PRVI 285gr softs. The Barnes bullets both shoot to 1"/1.25" at 100yds with the PRVI stretching out to 1.75".

I have not hunted with this one yet but am looking to try it on Bison and maybe some hogs somewhere. Hope this helps.

D99 and others. Sorry, it's 53grs. IMR4064 in the 286/285 bullets and 57grs in the Barnes 250grainers.

Larry,

I would do that but,,,,,

1. This gun will spend time in a European high seat, at night waiting for piggies to come to feed so it needs a big objective lens scope. Either a Trijicon 2.5-10x56, Ziess 3-12x56, or Swarovski 2.5-10x56 hopefully with a rail. I have not used a Meopta 3-12x56 but I am going to look at that one too. The Burris Euro might be a choice, but I like the Trijicon's trinium illuminated reticle a lot!

Thanks for the informaiton on the loads.

I have 3 boxes of RWS, 2 boxes of Norma, and 2 boxes of Hornady factory stuff. So I'll have to keep it seperated for reloading, when I get to that point.

I am probably just going to shoot 250 Grain Nosler accubonds and Hornady 286 softs out of it.

D99 Let me know if you find out more about using the rail mount on this. I was looking at doing much the same setup for mine.

Looking at a spring Bear hunt this year and this Number One may get the nod over my 45-70

I also like your list. I to would like to see a 257 WBY. Can't wait for the 475/480 also.

You mean the 450-400 3"? They have two models. I just purchased one and i'm in the processing of getting the fancier one, both are beauties and handle well.
