For what it's worth, I bought a B&C stock for a 220 Swift in a 1-V over 20 years ago and was completely happy. I still have it, although I sold the gun. Quality was excellent, recoil was down, and the fir was perfect for the scope I had. One point is that these are heavy, much heavier than the one piece stocks. This was a plus with the 1-V, and might be good on a large caliber, but could be a downer for a sporter.

I don't know of any other synthetics than B&C unless one of the custom fiberglass stock places will make a custom one for you. What about reducing the dimensions of a wood stock set and overlaying a fiberglass or kevlar wrap?

Lone Wolf Rifle Stocks, Columbia Falls, Montana. He made me a synthetic stock for my Ruger #1 S in 338 Win Mag. It shoots great and has held up well.

thanks for the replies.

Art,
you have a PM

Mike I don't think I have the skills to reduce the stock and then wrap it with a cloth..

Impala,
just been on to the Lone wolf website, they don't seem to list a ruger stock, was yours a "one off".

Griff,

The Ruger #1 stock is not in the catalog or on the website. I called inquiring about the #1 stock and they said no problem. I sent my rifle and they made the butt stock and forend. Turnaround was pretty quick as I recall, it was about 9 or 10 years ago.

Would a good epoxy paint and coating system on the wood stock suit your purpose?

I have one. I'd trade it for a walnut stock any time.
