Ruger Hornet
Does Ruger still make the #1 in 22Hornet?
I think I need one.

Last time I checked their website they did. But what you really need is one in 218 Bee. I'm so happy with mine I could just about shit. [Big Grin]

I'd prefer the 1A in these calibers....

Give the CZ 527 American in .22 Hornet a look. Glad I did.

I concur. After owning four or five number ones that didn't perform very well I gave up on them. Then a couple weeks ago I traded for another one (they ARE pretty, aren't they!) in 218Bee. Very nice gun and a great shooter. After owning at least a half dozen 22hornets I have to admit that the Bee is a better cartridge for the type work these two were made to do.

According to Ruger's 2003 catalog, they DO, make a 22-Hornet in a 26 inch barrel.

Yes. And .218 Bee also. I wish they made the Bee in a 1A! The present one has a med. wgt 26" tube, so it is not a "walkin' around" rifle! [Wink]

Sorry to hear about your bad experiences with No. 1's! I've owned five No. 1's and one No. 3, and ALL have been 1 MOA or better rifles. So our experiences have been almost exactly oppopsite! [Frown]

Just a follow up on the search for a #1 Hornet.
I ran an add on the classifieds hear on AR, bought one from a guy in upstate New York. He says it about 98% new condition, should be here early next week. In the meantime I bought dies from a friend, 125 rds. of brass, a lb.of 1680 powder, had both small rifle & pistol primers, and a clean 8X Lyman All American Perma Center scope to mount on it. I think I'am all set to enjoy the Hornet. Call em in close_____Pete [Wink]

Pete, sounds like you've got the makings of a good rig there. I especially like the All-American scopes... [Big Grin]
