Winchester Hi Wall barreled action value?
All,
Any idea of the rough value of a Winchester Hi Wall barreled action. It's a 38-55. No 3 barrel. Was part of a collection a friend of mine bought (rest of the rifles were complete). Maybe 60 or 70% if the gun was complete. I don't really have a feel for what it's worth. If you stock it and put on a buttplate, does it lose value?

mdstewartVery complicated. Does it have a stock? Not enough info.

Phil McFallAs previously said, much more info is needed. Pictures would do it.
condition of the metal
straight grip or pistol grip
any sights
what kind of trigger/s- single, single set, double set, etc
description of the bore
length of barrel
Phil
70% metal finish, straight grip, front and rear sights (no micrometer tang sight), single trigger, bore is frosty but okay, 30". Don't have pictures yet.
Are you buying it or selling it? Price will vary.
Thinking of buying it, buying a blank and re-stocking, shooting a while. But I'll likely eventually end up re-selling. Thinking it might be worth between $850 and $1300'ish. I'd have to pay around $250 for stock blanks/buttplate. Don't want to lose too much on re-sale.
Thanks,
Steve

Phil McFallI'd be thinking 800-900 if I wanted one assuming it is an original barrel. There is nothing here special so I wouldn't push for it very hard.
