Hi,

I own a 1-A 7x57 with Henry Alex forend.
But want to now the purpose with that cut?
More than a lovely design Bill Ruger copy.

280. Are you referring to the groove at the front of the forearm? I don't think it had any purpose other than cosmetic and was a distinctive feature on rifles made by Alex Henry. probably was kind of like a trademark or signature feature.

I always thought it was to accomodate a portable rest / sticks...

There is actually a name for this cut, but it an odd sounding word, & escapes me at the moment.

No. 1S / 45-70
