Bad Ass WallaceOriginal Winchester Hi-wall
Original rifles are mighty scarce in this part of the world but I just saw a 32/40 Highwall for $AU1840 (US1300).
Barrel is poor, timber is poor, external metalwork fair. Is this a reasonable price and are original highwalls readily available in USA.
I'm thinking it may be cheaper to buy one in US and import it back here if they are priced less than say $US800 in shootable condition.

butchlocI haven't seen a hiwall around here for less than 1200 for years. Last one I had was really quite good & sold for 2000

hstMr. Wallace:
A rough but restorable High Wall action will go for about $800 in the States, if you can find one. They are not abundant and there are more folks looking to buy than are looking to sell. Better condition, a pistol grip tang or any kind of set trigger will increase the value considerably.
Best of luck.

BrentAt $800, any highwall that can be made shootable is a bargain. I paid that for one 5 yrs ago, and was considered lucky then. I met the seller in a parking lot at a gunshow by prearrangment. There were 4 guys lined up behind me before I finished in case I backed out. Had to hold on to it with both hands while pulling out the green.
Original Highwalls are like gold mines.
