MatthewxRossi youth rifle combo
Does anyone have experience with these? I am torn between buying little henry 22s and H&R 410's for my boys (5 and 8) or the Rossi "matched pair". I know you get what you pay for but my $140 H&R 17 HMR shoots better than any other 17 HMR I have had. Is the Rossi comparable in quality to H&R? If no one knows I will buy one Rossi set and one H&R and one Henry and let you know what I think.

JeffMMy father bought my daughter a rossi .410/22 combo at birth. So it's 15 years old now. That said, I taught her and several others how to shoot open sights and shotgun at a young age. It, I think was a youth model with short stock, and did a great job. No scope but a plain jane youngun's gun that worked. I have my first h&r and my older son has his, both junior models in 20ga. They work great but don't know about rifle barrels. I hunted with mine so much as a kid I wore down the extractor. The Rossi is a good start and move up into something bigger quickly to keep them successful. My daughter qual'd with a AR-15 when she was 10 or so.

MatthewxThanks for the input, I will give the Rossi a go. My kids have been shooting a lot of archery and are ready to move on to rifles and shotguns so it seems like a natural choice.

MatthewxWe gad our first range session with the Rossi "matched pair" yesterday and I am very impressed. We will be buying another one this week sometime. It is easy for my 8 year old to operate, moderate for my 5 year old to operate, reasonably accurate, and even comes with ejectors. I tried to get another one today, but the shop did not have any.
I am impressed.

You might need to have the trigger mechanism smoothed to make it easier for those small hands. Rossi's dont have the nicest triggers from new , and a smoothing with a fine stone makes quite a differance.
I fitted an ATI telescopic stock to my young fellas rifle too - the pistolgrip gave him more leverage for pulling the trigger plus its adjustable in length as his arms grow .
