Burris 1X or Leupold scout for Ruger #1
Has anyone put a burris 1X variable eye relief or a leupold scout scope on there #1. I've never looked through the burris, it seems odd it can have such a range of eye relief. Just wondering if it would work well.

Years back I put a Burris 2.something X scout on a 1A and found the eye relief to be just a bit too long. Most scopes on that rifle were a bit too close... damnest thing ain't it!

cheers

Yeah it's a pain in the butt.I guess I'll just leave them with the iron sights.

Smitty, Look at the NECG's peep and their large white front beads... makes for a pretty and effective package on the 1A.

I have a 375 Win with Weaver bases and mounted a 4-12 Banner on it just to test it for eye relieve it is too far ahead.

A good low power is what I am looking for the 1.75-5 x 20 Burris or the 1-4 Euro Buris comes to mind or a Leupold 1.5-6.???

I find that most scopes on the #1 don't come back far enough due to the mounts being too far ahead.

For my 25-06 I made a special Weaver base where the ring sits on top of the action to lower the scope and bring it back. Works great.

Just acquired a Ruger #1, and looking to scope it. I too looked at EER type scopes, but that is too long. Conventional scopes have eye relief too short.

But the out or about to be out Nikon Omega might be the ticket. Built for large caliber, hard kicking blackpowder rifles. 3-9x 32mm which is a bit more magnification than I wanted, but would do. The best thing is this one is said to have constant eye relief, and the eye relief is 5 inches. This should be good on the Ruger #1.

Now trying to decide if the BDC reticle meant for black powder is of any use on a 45/70. But you can get the same scope in duplex.

Thanks 308 Sako. I have a NECG peep on one. Wanted to scope the other. I have to look into the Nikon. Just so long as it's not a big scope.

Some basic info here. Is said to be compact size. I would probably prefer a 2-7x in 28mm. But a not very long 32mm is not bad. The constant 5 inch eye relief, and being specifically made for heavy recoil is the big plus to me.

I may get one if they are available. Will let you know how it works if I do.
