kayakerNEF Handi-Rifle question...
Can a shotgun barrel be fitted to the same frame as the rifle?
What guage- 20? Is the 12ga too big for frame?
Thanks

muzzaPretty sure the shotgun barrels are interchangeable - but there is an issue with the earlier shotgun - only actions not being strong enough for rifle calibre brrels , iirc...? SB-1 / SB-2 actions ?

Mad Dogkayaker, don't hold me to this, but I think a shotgun barrel can be fitted to a rifle action[SB2], but a rifle barrel can't be fitted to a shotgun action[SB1]. Pressure thingy.

FOOBARKayaker...goto Graybeard,

That subject has been thoroughly covered. Do a search and read the FAQs. Also a letter to NEF will give you the true faqs.

kayakerThanks,
I see that the gun must be sent back to NEF for fitting/headspacing...I will be in Canada and this service is not really worthwhile if the gun has to cross borders. Apparently no-one in Canada does the barrel the fitting (that I can find at least).

wrongtargetUnfortunately for our neighbors to the north, the accessory barrel program isn't an option. But many Handiholics fit their own second hand barrels, many lock right up, some need minor fitting, others need work. See the barrel fitting info in the FAQs at GBO. There's also info on year of manufacture and how to tell an SB1 shotgun frame from an SB2 rifle frame.

RobinBPersonally, I'd just buy the shotgun rather than have a barrel fitted to a rifle. They are not very expensive and I'd think you could get a used one for under $100.
I bought the shotgun barrel for a rifle and found that the stock configuration is different. I find the Topper shotguns very pointable, but mine with the rifle stock just doesn't work.
To get a working shotgun would require a barrel and a stock. Changing the stock is a bit of a pain.
