cordellRe: No. 1 and rimless cartridges
I have owned 3, one of which is a rimless, I have never had a problem with any of them.

Bad Ass WallaceBeing a left hander, I have accumulated a number of No. 1 in odd calibres;
222Remington, 22PPC, 22/250, 243, 270 Ackley Improved, 7X57, 30.06, 340Wetherby Mag, 38/55, 404 Jefferies, 458Lott, and 45/120 Sharps. None have ever failed to extract.
If you remove the forearm, there is an adjusting grub screw that controls the level of ejection from just eased out of the chamber to "holy shit where did that shell go?"

asdfI never got to experience "holy shit..." with mine. The case seemed to always catch on the safety button, and as often as not, it would end up in the trough. If I do have one built, I'd be sure to get that silly button ground down some.

CGBI have a #1 that started as a used 7mm Rem. that I had rebarreled to .264 Win. by DGA, that occasionally will not eject. The extractor slips over the rim. I have replaced the extractor and spring to no avail. Really kind of ticks me off but so far I have not been able to sort it out. This is the only #1 that I have ever had problems with.

<eldeguello>Absolutely NOT, NO, UhUh!! The No. 1's extractor is designed specifically to dig out rimless cases. and it does!

fredj338I have never had a problem but I agree, they were really designed for a rimmed cart. I have had problems w/ the safety tang getting in the way, but just shorten the front & the problem goes away.

DaveMarshallI have a #1 in 7mm STW. Always ejects for me. Sweet shooting rifle too.

trkI have had #1's in .25-06 and .300WM and now have #1's in .458WM, .375H&H; and #3's in 7mm-08 and .375WIN. No problems in ejection. I LIKE the safety stopping the case - makes it easy to grab before it gets lost in the grass or stepped upon.

asdfNah, I think an ejector should eject the case clear of the action. With the No. 1, you can always disable the ejector without too much hassle, leaving you with just the extractor. The safety on mine was such an effective cartridge stop I never bothered to back off the ejector spring.
