kudu56TC Pro Hunter question
I just bought a new TC pro hunter action and stock, about three weeks ago, then
orederd a barrel from EA Brown. When I got the barrel three days ago the screws that fasten the forearm/forend to the barrel are
about 1/8 inch to short. They are flush with the inside of the stock. They appear to be to small in diameter also. I can get one screw to catch about two threads.
I have emailed TC, no replys, and EA Brown, they have emailed me twice with questions. Anyone experience this before? I am thinking of just going to a gunsmith in Billings and buying longer screws.

Mark ClarkHome Depot has stainless Allen head screws that should fit. They are in the little drawers in the fastener area. If they are a little long a sander or file will make a perfect fit

kudu56They didn't have one that would work. Threads were wrong. I tried three gunsmiths and Fastenal, while in Billings, no luck there either!

Sent an order to EA Brown, they have them in stock.

Hopefully I can get his thing together by antelope season! Thanks for the help Mark.

kudu56I am still trying to get long enough screws for my TC Pro hunter forearm/forend. EA brown don't have one inch screws. They sent me 3/4". I think I will counter sink the stock so they fit. Any ideas????

MarcL22I know of two options. You can purchase a 8-40 13/16"OD die (Midway) and make your own or you can contact Mike Bellm who sells longer screws. (
Bellm.

Johnp034Don't know if its the same on the rifle forearm, but the T/C muzzle loader forearm, the 2 screws are different lengths. I couldn't get mine to work right, so I called T/C and raised cane, then the gal I was talking to in CS told me the problem. She was right, 1 screw is longer than the other. I reversed them and it worked perfectly.

kudu56Both of mine are 3/4 of an inch. I need at least another 1/8 to make them work. One screw catches maybe 2 threads. I did a search on MSN, and I found several old posts on various forums about the same problem. But none had solutions.
I am thinking about countersinking the screw hole, then using washers to shim the screw if needed. I have called TC and emailed with no replys.

GrumulkinBrownells also sells the screws but really, EABCO should have provided the proper screws if you bought the forend from them.

kudu56I bought the stock and action from a local dealer, and the barrel from EABCO. EABCO has been more than helpful, but they did not have long enough screws either, 3/4" is the longest they have. TC is to blame, either a flaw in the stock because of thickness or to short of screws. I am yet to talk to anyone at TC. Nothing worse than to short of a screw!

I need to get this thing put together, antelope season is approaching.
