45 Colt twist.................
I am wanting to get a 45 Colt barrel built for my Encore rifle and was wondering what the ideal twist for the 45 Colt with 255. gr to 310 gr. bullets would be?

Colt revolvers were 16" twist if that's any help. You might go to 14" for the 310 gr. ....Having another one , still tastes good ! Big Grin

FWIW whatever twist Ruger uses in the Bisley Blackhawk spins up 300, 325, & 335 grain bullets just fine at 1100-1200 fps. Who are you having build your barrel? Good hunting!

I'll probably go with OTT or Van Horn, I have barrels from both and they are both super accurate and have quality workmanship. I am thinking about a heavy sporter style at about 20 inches for my Encore. I know a lot of people say might as well go ahead and get the 460 S&W but I don't want one of those(at least not right now) I want a 45 Colt.

Sounds like fun. I have too many unfunded gun projects as it is but a pistol cartridge Encore rifle barrel strikes me as a very sensible low cost training and short range hunting option. Please keep us posted on your progress. Good hunting!
