Ruger No 1 B Question
I have a Ruger No 1 B in 22-250. This is the standerd Ruger, not the varment model. What would be reasonable accuracy from this gun with a good hand load? By that I mean the size of the group. The triger is light and it has a 5X to 15X scope.

1 MOA or less should be achievable. All 5 of my No.1, .22-250 1-V, 300 Wby 1-B, 375 H&H 1-H, 416 Rigby 1-H, and 45-70 1-S, will all hold MOA or better with scopes and handloads. All did have their barrels free floated and other little tricks, but your 1-B .22-250 should easily give you MOA with handloads, and half that if you tweek the rifle.

I have read much, and I must say with the Ruger No 1 it is a school of it's own, what do you mean by tweek?

Shoot it first. My didn't need any work other than a Moyer trigger. 30-06 13/16" @ 200yds. The new Ruger barrels seem to be very smooth.

might try the old elmer keith trick of removing the forearm screw and installing a # 36 "o"ring on it then replacing it into forearm.do not over-tighten.this will work wonders with virtually all # 1s i have owned.enjoy your #1,they are a treasure. J.E.Roop

I have never heard of this "O" ring thing. What does it do?

It can free float the fore-end from the hanger.
