martinibelgianRe: Shilo BPCR questions
Those are already rifles for the advanced BPCR shooter, they are not easy to get to shoot - if you're starting with BP, use something like a 45-70 or 40-65. For those calibers, some previous BP experience is almost a requirement... All of those rounds can be made to shoot, but it will require quite a bit of work, and they will beat you up for sure! We're talking about lube cookies, wad columns, different granulations, custom bullet moulds,... you name it!

JonAgree, if the rifle is actually going to be used to compete in BPCR matches 45/70 or 40/65 is the way to go.
The 45/110, 45/120 may be useful on the rams at 500m but no good for the 200m chickens. It's no accident that over 90% of competetive BPCR shooters use the 45/70. You need a "ballance" of power and the 45/110-45/120 is just too biased toward "long range" for the average shooter.

couesHi,
Thanks for the help. These wont be for matches or competition. He is really heavey into reloading and shooting for fun. He is a real stickler for loads and perfection and is looking at these as another source of
fun, experimantation and what not.

BrentYou need to go to the Shiloh website and forum. You will hear a lot about the .45-110 but nothing larger. Larger cartridges like the .45-120, and .50-140 are generally for those that are testosterone challenged and looking for a substitute.
Lots of helpful, knowledgable people there, and on the MSN/BPCR site as well.
