michauxiiRuger #1 Rings?
Please recommend a nice set of rings for a #1 in .243.
Will be topped with a 3-9x40 Leupold.
Thanks

Esldude http://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?C...arch=true#Post850503Look here on a post where I scoped my 45/70.
I used Burris Solid Steel rings for the Ruger #1. I used mediums, which in this case are almost like some high rings. The reason was with the rather short bell on the OMega, it let the scope clear the rear sight without problems. The Leupold, I think would be longer here making it a bit easier. Not sure if low or mediums would work for you.
The Burris have essentially large head Torx at an angle to match the angle of the Ruger slots. No extra piece between them. This makes for a simple solid connection vs. factory rings. Though I never had trouble with those for that matter.
I have a #1 in .243 but use the factory rings.
I wish Burris made Signature rings for it. But only way to get those on a #1 is Ruger to Weaver adaptors and put Signature rings for a Weaver mount on that.

BuliwyfI like the Ruger factory rings for your application.
Happy Holidays.

michauxiiOK,
Then I need to replace the slotted screws with Torx screws.
Anyone know the correct size of Torx to fit Ruger rings... and good place to order them?

Dr. LouI use Ruger double extended rings for proper eye relief and Leupold 1-4 or 2-7 for the #1. Ruger rings now have torx screws. Lou

LRH270Michauxii-
Brownell's sells the torx screws for Ruger rings in packs of 12; they are 6-40 x 1/4 and take a T-10 torx driver.
Their stock number is 080-924-464 on the package.
