Does anyone know how these BPCRs shoot with smokeless loads? Are they as strong as the older Browning 1895s? Will they handle loads similar to the Ruger #1s?

I had two Browning 1885 BPCRs. One in 45-70 and one in 40-65. I never fired the 40-65.

The 45-70 shot both cast and jacketed bullets well. If my memory serves me right, I don't think it shot anythin over 1.5 moa to 200 yards, and there were definitely some sub moa groups. I sold that rifle too. Someone wanted more the me. I liked it alot-but evidently not as much as the guy who bought it.

The barrels are cut rifled Badger match barrels (made in Wisconsin), at least they were Badger barrels. The soule rear sight (adjustable for windage) is a jewel and is an easy $400 by itself.

Every BPCR I've seen had spectacular walnut, and had excellent wood/metal fit.

Don't know anything about this particular BPCR or the owner.
