Tried out my #1.
I went out and did a little shooting today.
I got to try out my Ruger #1A in 7X57 mauser.
I had 4 hand loads and it did just fine.
While 2 of the loads were awfull, t 2 or 3 inches at 100. those loads were with with Hornady 154 Flat base and 162 grain BT interlocks over RL-19 and W-760.
The other 2 loads were much better.
I put 3 rounds in 1.5 with a 140 rgain sierra over 51.5 grain of RL-19 and 140 grain balistic tips into 1.2 on 1 target and .90 on another.
I think I will try a few other bullets with H414 mabye a little hotter.
This was my 1st time with this rifle. I like so far. If it holds that it only likes 140 grain bullets , I will be quite happy as I bought it as a deer rifle anyway. If I can get a good 2850 or 2900 fps and right around an inch it is great. I will try to get my hands on a box of 150 grain b-tips as I think I would like them a little better on a big mullie.

IMHO #1'a are just cool rifles and you got a cool rifle that shoots!

salute

BTW, you might try some of the W760 and H414 loads from the Speer manual. They run the 7x57 a bit hotter than the other manuals.

All the No.1's I've owned shot well. With my 1A 7X57mm, I only shoot three-shot groups, but they are generally small ones! My best 140-grain load uses the Nosler Partition bullet, and 53.5 grains of WW 760, which is about the same as H414. THIS IS A HOT LOAD!! MV 3000 FPS.

Here's how it shoots. That is a 13.9mm group (.547"). They're not all that small, but many are close!

Thanks for the load theer eldeguello ! I put together a 140 grain partition load to try in my 7X57..
I did 50.5 grains of H-414. Also did some 140 grain acubonds over IMR-4350.
Its prety nasty out but I might shoot them today anyway...tj3006
