Scope is just a Leupold 3x9x50 I already had in a Blaser Saddlemount. I'll probably use one of my Leupold 30mm LR 4.5x14x50 ILL scopes....my Aoudad rig :-)

Excellent choice. Got something in particular lined up for aoudad hunting? A friend dropped a real nice one a few years back in Texas (western part of the state I believe).

I've taken Aoudad, but nothing good, trophy-wise. There are a number of good Aoudad outfitters in TX, some of them post here. Nice thing, the prime season is-off season for most everything else.

Very nice looking rifle. I will also say that the K95 Stutzen in 308 was one of the most accruate hunting rifles I have ever fired.

Tony, you're right, For some reason they tend to be way more accurate than they have a right to be.

At the risk of being Tarred and Feathered, the same can be said for every Blaser rifle I have fired, especially their Combo guns and Drillings...

Don't do a hunt where you shoot them over feeders, like on a Whitetails ranch. Go out to the mountains and hunt them where they live. In the right area, it's very much like an inexpensive Dall Sheep or Billy hunt.

One of these days the right opportunity will present itself. No feeders, no high fences for me for Aoudads.

I picked up a new Merkel K1 in 7mag a couple of yrs ago. It was at a price I knew would not go down any more from there. I didn't really want the 7mag, but , the wood was nice and the price was right. Put a 3-9x40 RapidZ600 on it with claw mounts. Haven't done too much with it so far, have some loads done , to try out in it one of these days. I plan to load it to about 7-08 or 280rem type velocities w/140gr. That will help tame the muzzle jump a bit. I took it out hunting a couple of yrs ago, sweet to carry for sure.

Jones, I'd shoot it first. I don't find the 7 mag recoil to be objectionable...about like a 30-06. Great all-around hunting caliber.

Recoil isn't an issue on it. Muzzle climb seems to be more pronounced thru recoil. I liked shooting it with the Fed premiums. If I was to order one, I'd get a 7-08 or 6.5 of some form.
I've had 4 7mags. For that type of gun, ideally the smaller cartridge is plenty powerful enough for me, in that style of gun. It got bought because of the price, incl scope, it was 1400 less than the average price of the bare gun up here. And I have a 338 and a 300H&H to use in the magnum class cartridges, so the 7mag was a bit redundant in that regard. But, it was a cartridge I could work with, and has a lot of versatility.
And, weather ever permitting it, I do intend to get it out a bunch more this year.

Remington makes their Managed Recoil loads in 7mm Mag. It is a 140gr bullet at 2710fps.

While I have not shot it I have shot their 300 Mag managed Recoil, and the 308 Maanaged Recoil ammo.

My nephew and I have killed several deer and oigs with the 308 Managed Recoil load and it works great. Very accurte as well.

So if you do not reload, they are worth a look.

Tony, not a bad idea for Whitetail hunting. It would make it into a 7mm-08.

Exactly. For those that do not reload the Remington Managed Recoil is a great idea.

In the 308 even with its 125 gr bullet, it has killed deer, wild pigs, and my nephew even killed a turkey with it.
I have shot a lot of stuff with a 308 and the 125 gr bullet killed them as quick as anything.
It kicks less than a 243...
