Reloaderman,

Does it get in the way of the No 3 lever? I hate the factory butstock when it come to shooting heavy loads in my 45-70. I have considered various things to do to my factory stock but if these work well on No 3's...

No, it doesn't get in the way, it was a "bolt on" change if you have a sporter weight barrel. For the 45-70 barrel, I think you will have to open up the channel. I clamped a broom handle in my vise, wrapped some sandpaper around it and worked the stock up and down on it untill it fit the barrel. The grip area did not need any work at all. You can grip the stock with your fingers around the lever, a good 'beefie' grip ( which I like ). If you want to spend some more money, a good gunsmith could make you a nice long curved lever ( ala Martini action ) for about $200 or so, but hey, I only spent $240 for my #3 in 30-40 Krag. < !--color-->
